The Beach Boys are one of the most iconic and insanely recognizable groups in the history of surf rock, psychedelia, and popular music at large - and if you’ve never seen them live before, you’ve definitely heard them on a Summer playlist or California vibes drive down PCH blasting out the window next to you. Formed in 1961 and still riding the wave of fame over six decades later, the group has won multiple GRAMMY Awards, been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, sold over 100 million records worldwide, and landed more than fifty songs on the Billboard Hot 100. They are quite literally the blueprint for West Coast pop rock - and the reason California sunshine IS the way it is, real talk. And us here at Coffee Butler Amphitheater, tucked right into the heart of tropical Key West and one of the most picturesque outdoor venues in the country, are beyond excited to welcome The Beach Boys as they bring their legendary Sounds of Summer Tour to the island on Sunday, March 29th, 2026 - proving once again that some sounds never fade. And of course - that we are always at the forefront of keeping you safe from rainy days.

The Beach Boys were originally known as The Pendletons, mainly because of their outfit choice of wearing the iconic cardigans in all their initial performances. And back then, they began as a humble garage band just outside of Los Angeles, sparked by Brian Wilson’s obsession with harmony, vocal layering, and the music drifting out of early-60s radio. What started as bedroom experiments quickly grew into something bigger, as Brian recruited his brothers, cousin, and a neighbor, turning holiday-gift instruments into a cultural movement. Pulling inspiration from surf culture, electric guitar twang, and doo-wop vocals, the group carved out a sound that stood in direct contrast to the harder, faster rock emerging from the East Coast and overseas. Their debut single “Surfin’” caught immediate attention, climbing the Billboard charts and locking in their California legacy almost overnight. From there came Surfin’ Safari, a run of timeless hits, and a catalog so deep that nearly everyone has a Beach Boys song tied to a memory, a summer, or a place they love.
