ABOUT GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS

George Thorogood & The Destroyers are American blues-rock royalty, plain and simple. Formed in the early 1970s out of Wilmington, Delaware, the band was built around Thorogood’s gritty slide guitar, bar-room swagger, and love of old-school blues. What started as a group ripping through Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker covers in tiny clubs quickly turned into something much bigger. By the time they dropped their breakthrough records in the late ’70s and early ’80s, Thorogood had carved out a sound that was raw, loud, and instantly recognizable - blues at its core, but supercharged with rock-and-roll attitude. Songs like Bad to the Bone, Move It On Over, I Drink Alone, and One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer turned the band into household names, landing them everywhere from radio airwaves to movie soundtracks to sold-out arenas. But even with all that success, the Destroyers never lost their working-class edge — they built their reputation on the road, playing thousands of shows and earning their fans one sweaty, beer-soaked night at a time.
